Overview

South Thames College London (STCL), a state sector college located in South West London, is a vibrant further and higher education provider. One of London’s ‘Big 7’ colleges, STCL focuses on career-oriented vocational and higher education courses. The College has recently merged with Merton College to reach a wider section of the society.

Students of all ages and backgrounds including school leavers, mature students and young adults enrol in this College to improve their career options and develop their skills. The ambience at STCL is cosmopolitan and multi cultural as the college is the preferred further and higher education destination for students from the UK and across the globe.

The College offers more than 2,000 courses covering a variety of subjects including English for international students, business and administration, theatre, computing and IT, construction and engineering, health and childcare, languages and public services. Courses for a range of qualifications from entry level up to higher education are available at STCL. Customised skill development courses for individuals and businesses are also offered at STCL.

South Thames College London is an associate college of Kingston University and has forged partnerships with other major higher education providers such as London South Bank University, Canterbury Christ Church University and St Mary’s University College to ensure and maintain the quality of higher education offered at the College. Association with other colleges and universities also provide STCL students access to facilities offered by these institutions. South Thames College is working in collaboration with Beijing National Culture and Art Vocational School to promote excellence and expand vocational education, in particular in the field of Music Technology.

STCL has designed innovative practices that allow students to pace their education to suit their skills and requirements. Students can upgrade from a basic qualification to higher qualification, strengthen their English skills before moving on to their subjects and combine different qualifications.

STCL campuses possess all required facilities, academic as well as recreational, to provide a truly international study experience. STCL is spending more than £100 million on improving and developing facilities in its Wandsworth campus.
 
Accreditations and ratings

• STCL is regulated by the UK Government's Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) and inspected by Government quality agencies – the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) and QAA (The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education).
• STCL is a member of English UK and its English courses meet the quality standards of Accreditation UK and are accredited by the British Council.
• STCL English courses were assessed as grade 1 “outstanding” by OFSTED in 2009.
• STCL’s Student Advice and Guidance team has been awarded the national Matrix quality for excellent service
• South Thames College is an official UK Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for Music Technology.
• STCL is a member of the Association of Colleges and has signed its Charter for Excellence in International Education and Training
